January 1, Kathmandu. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhanubhakta Dhakal has admitted that development and construction works have been overshadowed while fulfilling the responsibility of protecting human life from COVID-19.
Addressing the 22nd anniversary program of the Nepal Tourism Board on Thursday, Tourism Minister Dhakal said that development, construction and other sectors could not be implemented as the government was focusing on saving human lives from Covid.
He also said that the tourism year 2020 had to be postponed due to Covid and it had caused huge damage to the tourism sector. He said that the ministry was committed to do what the government could for the development of the tourism sector which was stalled due to Covid. Minister Dhakal also said that the government will give priority to the works that can be done in the coming days to uplift the tourism life.
Minister Dhakal also said that international flights from some countries have been canceled due to the recent outbreak of corona infection in the UK. He said that saving lives was the first priority and the government was working accordingly.
