Chartered flight to return foreign nationals

May19, Kathmandu. A chartered flight was flown on Sunday to repatriate US citizens. The US flight was operated via Kathmandu-Doha at the request of the US Embassy in Nepal.

According to the Tribhuvan International Airport Office, 44 Europeans, including 210 Americans, returned home from a Qatar Airways flight at 8:45 pm on Sunday. It is said that the returnees are tourists and citizens of diplomatic missions.

The flight was not managed by the US embassy but by private airlines. Although the embassy has played a coordinating role in coordinating the flight, it has clarified that the embassy has no involvement in booking fares and tickets.Those citizens will return home from Kathmandu-Doha and from Doha to the respective country.

The government had banned international commercial flights outside Nepal-India from midnight on May 6.The government had banned commercial flights from the second wave of Covid-19 to Mofasal district, including the valley, as the number of infections increased.

The Covid-19 Crisis Management Center had recommended to the Council of Ministers to ban air travel, saying that corona virus infection could increase due to internal and external flights.
